Web K vs Web A — which browser build fits you?

Telegram maintains two official browser clients. They share the same cloud account, so you can switch back and forth freely.

Telegram

Web K

Ultra-light build focused on speed. Perfect for older laptops, slow Wi-Fi or when you just need to read and reply. Uses less RAM than Web A.

  • Fastest startup time
  • Smaller memory footprint
  • Works well on shared library PCs

Telegram

Web A

Feature-rich build closer to Telegram Desktop. Ships smoother animations, richer sticker sets and better voice-message playback.

  • Animated stickers and reactions
  • Voice message waveforms
  • Better search UI and pinned messages

Login in four browser-native steps

  1. 1

    Open the Web app

Click the button above. The page loads without asking for downloads or admin rights.

  2. 2

    Grab your phone

Open Telegram on iPhone or Android → Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device. Point the camera at the on-screen QR code.

  3. 3

    Confirm the browser session

Give the session a name (for example, “Office Chrome”) so you can revoke it later from Settings → Devices.

  4. 4

    Enable notifications

The browser prompts once — allow notifications so pinned chats reach you even when the tab is in the background.

Session privacy on shared computers

Because the Web app runs inside a normal browser tab, you should treat it like any other logged-in service on that machine.

  • Every browser session appears under Settings → Devices with location and last-active timestamp. Log out remotely with one tap.
  • Web builds do not carry secret chats. Use the mobile app if you need true end-to-end encrypted conversations.
  • Enable local passcode inside the browser? Web relies on your Telegram Cloud password (two-step verification). Set it in Settings → Privacy first.

Telegram Web questions

Do I need to download anything to use Telegram in a browser?

No. Telegram Web loads on demand and stores no installer. You only need a modern browser and a phone with Telegram installed for the initial QR-code login.

What is the difference between Telegram Web K and Web A?

K is a lightweight build that boots faster and uses less memory. A is a richer build with animations, better search and voice-message waveforms. Both share the same cloud account.

How do I log out of Telegram Web on a public computer?

Either open the profile menu inside the browser and choose Log Out, or use your phone: Settings → Devices → tap the browser session → Terminate. The session vanishes within seconds.
